Mike joined ITARP in 1998 as a Field Supervisor with the program’s Western Illinois Survey Division where he conducted Phase surveys, supervised small testing projects, and assisted on numerous excavations. While there he helped to develop a system making it possible to integrate Total Station and Global Positioning System (GPS) data into site-level Geographic Information System (GIS). He has held the position of ITARP’s GIS/GPS Coordinator since 2000. Along with managing the GIS and Cartography lab, Mike also performs field mapping, provides training and technical support and assistance to the entire program, and manages over a dozen Windows workstations.
